It is with great sadness that the members of the Livestock Welfare Coordinating Committee (LWCC) learned that Mr Freek Tomlinson passed away on 12 August 2024.
Mr Tomlinson will be remembered for his great contribution towards the improvement of the welfare of livestock. He was one of five chairmen since the inception of the LWCC in 1978 and he served from 1992 until 2009. He played a major role in the livestock sectors’ welfare standards in the farming, handling, transport and slaughter of livestock that had improved tremendously during his term.
He will be remembered for his skills to develop trust and relationships between leaders in the livestock industry.
