Proposed INTRODUCTION and CODE:

KOSHER SLAUGHTER OF SHEEP SHECHITA

INTRODUCTION:

Shechita is achieved by swiftly severing the trachea, oesophagus, carotid arteries and jugular veins of an animal being slaughtered for kosher.

The  effect  of  Shechita  is  to achieve a massive drainage of blood by a  sudden  and  voluminous evacuation of  the blood  vessels causing terminal anaemia of the brain, unconsciousness  and death

Ritual slaughter is a procedure which can be greatly improved by the use of a  total quality management (TQM) approach to continual incremental improvements in the process.  With  upright restraint equipment significant reduction in the suffering of animals being slaughtered for kosher meat will be achieved.
