LWCC, on advice of some of its members , would like to express its concern about the alleged inhumane treatment of
animals at the Stellenbosch University’s experimental farm.

Lamb behaviour during and shortly after tail-docking
Routine husbandry procedures for lambs are increasingly scrutinised for their animal welfare
implications. One such procedure is tail-docking, which is commonly performed to prevent breech
blowfly strike.
Prof Gareth Bath received an award
Prof Gareth Bath (Former LWCC Chairman) received an award for exceptional service to livestock welfare.
In Memory of Mr Freek Tomlinson
It is with great sadness that the members of the Livestock Welfare Coordinating Committee (LWCC) learned that Mr Freek Tomlinson passed away on 12 August 2024.
